Saudi Arabia and UK Forge Healthcare Partnership: Sign MoC for Collaborative Expertise Exchange
London, June 15, 2023: The Health Minister of Saudi Arabia, Fahad Al-Jalajel and the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care in the UK, Steve Barcly have officially entered into a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between their respective ministries, solidifying a formal agreement for joint efforts to strengthen collaboration between the two ministries and foster increased cooperation in healthcare sectors of mutual interest. The MoC is the result of Al-Jalajel’s official visit to the United Kingdom.
Furthermore, the collaboration strives to reinforce the ongoing collective endeavours with the backing of both nations’ leaders, as demonstrated by the joint statement made during Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman’s visit to the UK in 2018 and the subsequent gatherings of the Saudi-British Strategic Partnership Council.
Both parties have reached an agreement to maintain an ongoing exchange of technical expertise and collaborative efforts, with the aim of exploring lucrative commercial and investment prospects. The ultimate objective is to align the shared interests of both parties and support the realisation of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals.
A consultative session was conducted where various aspects of collaboration between the two nations were deliberated upon. The session focused on leveraging their expertise in post Covid-19 recovery, virtual healthcare and digital health to foster mutual benefits.
By pooling their resources and knowledge, Saudi Arabia and the UK aim to strengthen their healthcare systems, promote innovation, and ultimately improve the well-being of their citizens.
