UK's Osprey Charging Announces £100 Million Investment In EV Charging Infrastructure
11th April 2023: Electric car owners in the UK are set to benefit from a significant boost to the country's charging infrastructure, thanks to the investment of over £100 million by Osprey Charging, one of the largest charging point operators in the country. In just 10 weeks between January and March 2023, the company installed 142 new electric vehicle charging stations, which is equivalent to the same number of charging points that were deployed throughout the entire 2022.
Osprey Charging is now planning to invest further in charging infrastructure over the coming years. In April alone, the company is looking to install an additional 50 chargers. Osprey Charging has already installed 536 rapid chargers across the United Kingdom with the aim to reach the 1,000 charger mark by the end of 2023, which will provide EV drivers with even more stations for recharging their vehicles.
According to Osprey's CEO, Ian Johnston, the company is committed to continuing its rapid roll-out of charging infrastructure, and aims to achieve four times as many chargers in 2023 than it did in 2022. This will make it easier for electric car owners to travel longer distances and access charging stations with greater convenience.
The investment by Osprey Charging is expected to be a significant boost to the UK's transition to electric vehicles, which is part of the country's plan to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. With the deployment of more charging points by Osprey, electric car drivers will be able to travel with greater ease and convenience, helping to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.
