Peugeot To Supply Royal Mail With 2,000 New Electric Vans.
Peugeot, a French automotive brand is all geared up to supply 2,000 vans to Royal Mail. This addition in the Royal Mail's fleet will help furthering its eco-friendly postal services across the UK. With the existing fleet of delivery vehicles at about 28,000 from the French brand itself since 2009, this collaboration is likely to see more growth over the years.
The new set of electric vans will include a 1,000 e-Partner and a 1,000 e-Expert variants which differ in their range. Royal Mail is tediously working to completely electrify their entire fleet with an aim to have 5,500 electric vehicles on its fleet by Spring 2023 and already delivering in low emission zone cities like London, Bristol and Oxford.
Julie David, managing director, Peugeot UK briefing on the announcement said, “I am incredibly pleased that we can continue to support Royal Mail with models from our award-winning electric van range, including the Peugeot e-Partner, which is set to be produced right here in the UK at our Ellesmere Port plant from early next year.”
“With every van in our range already benefiting from an electric version and every car offering an electrified variant by 2024, we look forward to continuing our support of the Royal Mail and its ambition for a greener future,” He added.
Looking into the major specs of the two van variants, the e-Partner is powered by a 50kWh battery offering the van to have a range of up to 171 miles with a load volume of 4.4m3. On the other hand, the e-Expert van will be available with battery capacities of 50kWh or 75kWh, taking the van’s range to 143 miles and 205 miles respectively for the two sub variants.
